This is my favorite mural.Painted in 1994, it depicts a scene from the Battle of the Bogside. The mural shows a young boy with a gas mask to protect himself from CS gas the RUC used, and holding a petrol bomb. This mural commemorates the beginning of the struggle for democratic rights in Derry. The mural depicts some of the events that occured during 'Operation Motorman' on 31 July 1972. The mural depicts scenes from the 'Battle of the Bogside' that took place during August 1969. The woman with the bullhorn is Bernadette Devlin. The mural depicts the events of Bloody Sunday on 30 January 1972. The mural depicts Annette McGavigan who was 14 years when she was killed on 6 September 1971. She was shot dead by a British soldier while standing on the street in which she lived. More Photos >.

The Bogside murals are the most popular murals in Northern Ireland, and the some of the most prominent political murals in the world. Situated at Free Derry corner, the murals were painted by the Bogside Artists. The Bogside Artists are a trio of mural painters, living and working in Northern Ireland. They are Tom Kelly, his brother William Kelly, and their mutual friend Kevin Hasson. They have been working together since 1993. "A  wound must be cleaned out and examined before it will heal. It is the unexamined wound that festers and finally poisons. Our murals shows the wounds.
