CLIFFS OF MOHER, IRELAND

Cliffs of Moher

Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher in north Clare are the highest cliffs in Europe and are one of Ireland's top tourist attractions. The cliffs stand 230 metres above the ground at their highest point and 8km long. On a clear day, you can see the Aran Islands in Galway Bay.

O’Briens Tower is located on the highest cliff and is an exceptional viewing point. The Tower was built by Cornelius O' Brien, a descendant of Brian Boru, to impress female visitors.

We parked and headed up the gravel path for 5 minutes to the top of the Cliffs. Luckily, it was clear and we saw the cliffs in all their glory! Ok that sounds corny but it's true. They were spectacular!!! The photos really don't do them justice!

You can walk along the cliffs and hop over the 4 foot fence if you dare. Sections of the cliff sometimes give way and tourists have been killed but I did go over for a second. It was incredibly windy and I started getting vertigo looking over the edge, so I stepped back over the wall! After viewing the cliffs, I walked down to the tourist center and gift shop.
